What time is worship on Sunday?

We gather in worship every Sunday at 10:00 am.  Summer worship is at 9:30 am. Worship usually lasts about 1hr.

What should I wear?

You should feel comfortable wearing clothes that make you feel like you! We tend to be a casual church with many wearing jeans and fleece jackets, although some do opt for wearing their “Sunday best”.  It’s totally up to you.

Are children welcome?

Children are always welcome in the worship service. We all begin in service together then the children are dismissed to their church school class after the Children’s Message. Church school is offered each week.

During Communion Sundays, we share in communion as a whole church – all ages!

Can I bring my infant to worship?

Yes, infants are welcome in worship. If your little one gets fussy please feel free to walk around in the narthex to calm your baby down.

What is the United Church of Christ (UCC)?

The United Church of Christ (UCC) is a distinct and diverse community of progressive Christians that come together as one church to join faith and action.  With more than 5,100 churches and 1.1 million members across the United States, the UCC serves God in the co-creation of a just and sustainable world.

Do I need to be a member of the UCC or come from a religious background?

No, that is not required. Many current members of Buckingham were raised Catholic, some grew up in this church, others came from families that did not practice a particular religion, some grew up in other types of Protestant churches (like Baptist & Methodist).  We honor and celebrate that we are all on journeys in our life and faith.

What is Open and Affirming (ONA)?

Open and Affirming (ONA) is the United Church of Christ’s (UCC) designation for congregations, campus ministries, and other bodies in the UCC which make a public covenant of welcome into their full life and ministry to persons of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions.  The leadership team of Buckingham decided this spring to begin the process of becoming an official ONA congregation of the UCC.  In the meantime, the Buckingham community is already home to a few out gay and lesbian folks.  You are welcome here!

What happens after church?

After service, there is a time for conversation over coffee, tea and light snacks downstairs in the Social Hall.

Where do I park?

As you turn onto Cricket Lane, the parking lot is past the church and to your left.  Often that lot gets filled up on Sundays. You can park all along the side of Cricket Lane.  Then enter the church through the front doors – by the columns.

If you come to the church during the week, enter through the side door.   If you are looking at the church from the front, the side door is set back and to the left – where the building extends out toward Hebron Ave.

Please feel free to double park to make room for everyone.

Can I take communion?

Yes! The communion table at Buckingham UCC is open to anyone who comes with an open heart and spirit!
